The Population Reference Bureau's Reference Service

PRB's information services team handles thousands of information requests via phone, e-mail, and regular mail. Our requests come from a variety of sources — the media, other NGOs, educators and researchers, students, and U.S. government agencies.

The PRB Library contains more than 13,000 volumes and 350 periodicals, making it one of the country's largest population libraries. The collection includes documents from the U.S. Census Bureau, National Center for Health Statistics, Demographic and Health Surveys, agencies of the United Nations, statistical agencies of countries, nongovernmental agencies, and university population centers. The library has access to hundreds of databases through Nexis and the internet. It is also a member of the Association of Population Libraries and Information Centers-International and the Special Libraries Association.

PRB's library is open to the public Monday through Friday, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Materials are circulated to other libraries through interlibrary loan.
